Teach with Archives and Special Collections
Archives and Special Collections welcomes faculty and students to work with our collections in support of their teaching and learning. We can engage with classes in a variety of ways:
- Offering a general overview of archives and a "show and tell" of engaging materials in our collections
- Providing opportunities for hands-on research and exploration of materials relevant to course topics
- Working with faculty to develop assignments rooted in primary source material. Students have produced research papers and presentations, curated exhibits, created digital projects, and even developed creative works of drama, photography, and zines with our collections! We would love to hear your ideas.
- Introducing students to archives and related fields (librarianship, museums, public history) as a career path
To schedule a visit or to tour an exhibition with an archivist, please contact us at archives@loyola.edu or 410-617-6870.
Teaching Collection
In addition to our main collection, Archives and Special Collections offers a small collection of items useful in teaching the history of the book and book production, but that could be used in a variety of contexts. You are welcome to visit to use these materials, or can borrow them for use in your own classroom. We will continue to add to this collection, so please let us know if there are materials you would like to see included.
