About the Library
Founded as an independent academic library in 1973, the Loyola Notre Dame Library (LNDL) is an innovative center of engaged learning and research that advances the academic and spiritual missions of Loyola University Maryland and Notre Dame of Maryland University.
Through the expertise of its staff and partnerships with faculty, staff, and students at Loyola and Notre Dame, LNDL provides so much more than the traditional image of books on shelves.
- Library spaces are used for studying but also for hosting meetings for everything from student sewing and knitting clubs to faculty and administrative department meetings.
- The Library’s Research & Learning Program provides faculty with a dynamic opportunity to support student success and lifelong learning. Faculty can partner with LNDL experts to incorporate any of LNDL’s six library literacies into their classes including Archival Literacy & Digital Scholarship, AI Literacy, Copyright Literacy, Health Sciences Research Literacy, Maker Literacy, and Research & Information Literacy.
- Vast local collections of electronic and print resources are augmented by access to over 11 million items available from the 16 other libraries in the University System of Maryland & Affiliated Institutions (USMAI) consortium and the Eastern Academic Scholars Trust (EAST), a print archives that guarantees access to 11 million volumes through Interlibrary Loan.
LNDL works to ensure that there is a place for everyone and all feel welcome at the Library.
